Initial treatment session (75 minutes, $85)

During this first visit, the patient will go through a complete intake including a full medical history to design a plan of care.  A number of different modalities may be used after the intake, including:

Acupuncture.  Thin, sterile, disposable acupuncture needles will be inserted into specific areas of the body in order to promote a desired effect.

Cupping therapy.  A therapy in which cups made of glass or silicone are applied to the skin along the meridians of the body, creating suction as a way of stimulating the flow of energy.

Gua Sha.  Effects are similar to cupping but utilizes another method by which a flat edged tool is used to “scrape” the surface of the skin. This method is done until the skin blushes.)

Moxibustion or other heat therapy.  Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which dried plant materials called “moxa” are burned  near the surface of the skin. This warms and invigorates the flow of Qi in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences.

Tui Na (Asian body work).  Tui Na uses rhythmic compression along energy channels of the body, as well as a variety of techniques that manipulate and lubricate the joints. Like acupressure, Tui Na directly affects the flow of energy by holding and pressing the body at acupressure points.
